Many Nightbars open at around 5pm and do not close until 2am. Nightclubs are usually open until 4am or later at weekends.

In Shanghai, weekends start on Thursdays. Many bars and clubs have events on Thursdays most of which are located near Huaihai Middle Road.

Generally most of Night Bars are located on the roof garden and boast of the wonderful view of the Bund and Huangpu River. The bars in Shanghai are like a large glass room and are regarded as the most romantic and dynamic place in Shanghai. Face bar is one of the best bars in Shanghai which features Asian décor, with Buddha face sculpture outside. Glamour Bar on the Bund, is Shanghai's most sophisticated cocktail lounge with a sophisticated 1930s. KABB bar is a Xintiandi hotspot for watching the chic street crowd. The nightlife in Shanghai has also changed dramatically in the last few years, and plenty of gay travelers visit Shanghai strictly for the gay scene. Live Music in Shanghai

There are many places in Shanghai that offer live music entertainment. The Cotton Club located on 1428 Huaihai Zhong Lu features superb nightly jazz and blues. House of Blues & Jazz near Fuxing Zhong Lu is also famous, especially at weekends. Club JZ is a great jazz club. You can listen to a wide variety of music in these clubs ranging from Hard-hitting rock music to hip-hop.

Huangpu River in Shanghai

Huangpu River is one of the largest rivers in Shanghai. Riding a cruise along the Huangpu River is a very good idea to admire and appreciate the beauty of Shanghai’s nightlife. At night, the boat takes you on a spectacle of colorful neon lights, from the Bund to the wonderful sights of Pudong's futuristic skyline. There are many types of boats such as deluxe boats, ancient dragon boats of Ming and Qing styles, boats of Shikumen style, Pirate Boat, etc. Whatever kind of boat you choose, the night view to be seen here will live on in your memory for years to come.
